Airline Companies | How to Choose

Below you will find my own experience in each one of these airlines.
The price is still for me the key factor. They all have very strict safety rules to follow and depending on how long your flight is, the confort is also very similar when it comes to economic class. To find the cheapest flights I use platforms as Edreams or Skyscanner and buy the ticket from the cheapest agent selling or directly in the airline website.
If you want to buy several flight tickets for different destinations I would advise you to contact a travel agency in order to find combo fares.
All the mentionated airlines are evaluated following these 4 standards:
- Meals
- Cleanliness
- Confort
- Staff
TAP
- Meals: small meals are ok, a pastry or a small sandwich with water or juice.
- Cleanliness: always clean.
- Confort: medium but confortable seats.
- Staff: nice and available.
RYANAIR
- Meals: being a low cost company I never tried their food, also because the flights are very short.
- Cleanliness: cleaning between flights is not perfect so you might find some trash in your seat.
- Confort: medium size for fast flights. When there is no more space for the lugagge above the head, you might have to put it above the seat next to you cutting some space for your legs..
- Staff: for me is one of the funniest companies to travel with when it comes to cabin crew. Singing Happy Birthday and the hits of the moment is a must see!
EASYJET
- Meals: being a low cost company I never tried their food, also because the flights are very short.
- Cleanliness: always clean.
- Confort: medium size.
- Staff: nice and available.
LUFTHANSA
- Meals: several meals during the flight with different food. The beverages and dry fruits are yammi,
- Cleanliness: always clean.
- Confort: the seats for the economy class on long flights could be wider. The individual screens are good and with a lot of options from tv series to movies to relaxation music. As the crew announcements are a lot, you will be constantly interrupted by them, in several languages. In the economy class they give you headphones, a pillow and a blanket.
- Staff: very nice and helpfull. They have a more multilingual crew than usual.
AIR ASIA
- Meals: snacks are really good.
- Cleanliness: always clean.
- Confort: seats are wide and confortable. You can have access to Wifi inside the plane, not for free.
- Staff: very nice and helpfull.
JET AIRWAYS
- Meals: the best I ever tried on a plane, very complete and delicious.
- Cleanliness: always clean.
- Confort: medium seats.
- Staff: nice and available.
GARUDA AIRLINES
I have to share with you that this was the only company where I had my luggage robbed and broken. A fast flight from Singapure to Jakarta. My locker was broken, some fabric was ripped and 3 of the 4 main zippers of my backback were broken. I did a written complaint to the airline but I had no answer.
- Meals: the main meal could be more complete. The flavour was not very good.
- Cleanliness: always clean.
- Confort: the first time I flew with Garuda my seat was on the emergency exits. you get more space but it's a little bit scary. The crew really wants you to look at the safety procedures when you seat there. The table is inside the bench so it's not so confortable to eat but it's a lot more confortable to write.
- Staff: nice and available.
THAI LION AIR
I used this airline all over Thailand. The prices of the tickets are very cheap and they include check in luggage.
- Meals: didn't tried it.
- Cleanliness: always clean.
- Confort: for a short flights company the seats are extremely confortable.
- Staff: nice and helpfull.
BRITISH AIRLINES
- Meals: pretty good. Warm meals are tasty and complete. On the other hand, snacks are too fat and small portions. For example, my flight from Bangkok to London the snack was popcorns, chips and a package of maltesers.
- Cleanliness: in the beggining everything is clean. Closer to the end of the flight, bathrooms could be cleaner. And also the crew should pass more times to collect the trash from the meals.
- Confort: as the flights can be really long (13h), the seats could be wider. The space for the leggs is small and you can not lean your bench a lot so the screen is pretty close to your eyes.
- Staff: nice and helpfull. I witnessed the best cabin crew chief I have ever met.
IBERIA
- Meals: didn't tried.
- Cleanliness: always clean.
- Confort: for short flights the seats are pretty good.
- Staff: nice and helpfull.
